Job Summary:
The Molding Technician will be responsible for the overall performance of molding equipment and the processes that achieve production, quality and scrap standards through setting up, troubleshooting, maintaining and monitoring product, injection molding processes, robots, and automation or auxiliary equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Set-up, programming, and processing of injection molding machines, robots, and related automation equipment
- Conduct start-up testing of mold operation and process parameters—Work with QA and Engineering departments for best processing parameters
- Systematically troubleshoot product, machine, mold, and robot non-compliances or malfunctions
- Insure manufactured parts meet customer specifications through various precision measurement techniques, gages, and through visual inspection
- Comply with TS, ISO, and internal quality and procedural and documentation requirements
- Routine preventative maintenance of molding machines and other manufacturing equipment
- Maintain clean work area and utilize safe working practices
- Monitor quality of parts throughout production run and provide support to quality inspectors in assessing part quality
- Work with QA and Engineering throughout first article inspections, prototypes and capabilities studies
- Stage and/or load parts and product as needed or required by schedule in tubes, ovens, packaging, or trays
- Other duties as needed or required by management
Required Skills:
- Two years of related manufacturing experience preferred
- Ability to work with a small team in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines and possess the ability to interact with customers and visitors professionally.
- Knowledge of the operation, processing and maintenance of injection molding machines, robots and automation equipment
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot process and equipment problems
- Ability to interpret part prints with an understanding of basic GD&T
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Engel, Toshiba, and Cincinnati injection molding machines
- Knowledge of HPP and Engineering Grade Resins
- Working knowledge of SPC, Lean, and process improvement procedures
